South Charlotte is home for MLE Lawn Landscape and Tree Service. We are based in the 28211 zip, around Cotswold, so the neighborhoods on this side of town are the ones we know best and can reach fastest. Charlotte as a whole is too big for any one small operator to cover well, so we focus on the part of it we can actually show up for every week.
Cotswold and Myers Park: yards under the canopy
The big willow oaks are the reason people love these streets, and they are also the reason the lawns struggle. Shade, roots, and a heavy leaf drop every fall make a Cotswold or Myers Park yard a different job than a sunny lawn in a newer subdivision. Our lawn care keeps fescue cut high, keeps leaves from matting on the grass, and keeps edges sharp along the old sidewalks and brick walks. Where the grass will not grow, clean beds of pine straw or mulch often look better than fighting the shade.

SouthPark and Foxcroft
Around SouthPark the yards range from compact lots and townhomes to larger properties with a lot of foundation planting. Foxcroft has bigger lots, mature trees, and beds that have been growing for decades. That means plenty of landscaping work: shrubs that need to be brought back off the windows, azaleas and hollies that need shaping, crape myrtles that should be thinned instead of topped, and beds that need a fresh edge and a new layer of mulch or pine straw.
Ballantyne and the southern edge
Further south, Ballantyne yards are newer and usually part of an HOA. More of them are Bermuda or zoysia, which we cut lower and more often through the summer. The beds are often builder installs that are ready for their first real cleanup: pulling the weeds, cutting an edge, and putting down fresh material.
Tree trimming close to home
Our tree service handles the routine work these older neighborhoods need: limbs off the roof and gutters, low branches raised over the driveway and street, deadwood taken out before storm season, and small trees removed from crowded beds. We chip or haul the brush and blow everything clean. For the very large canopy trees that need a bucket truck or crane, we will tell you up front so you are not waiting on a job that needs a different crew.

South Charlotte lawn care questions
My fescue keeps thinning out under the oaks. What can I do?
Heavy shade is hard on any lawn, and the willow oak canopy in Myers Park and Cotswold is some of the heaviest in the city. Mow fescue high, keep leaves off it in the fall, and overseed in September when the shade is lightest and the soil is still warm. In the deepest shade, a clean bed of pine straw often looks better than grass that will never fill in.
Do you work on smaller lots and townhomes near SouthPark?
Yes. Small yards still need a sharp edge and a clean blow-off, and tight lots with fences and gates are routine for us. We price by the work involved, so a small yard gets a small-yard price.
Do you come all the way down to Ballantyne?
Yes. Ballantyne is a straight shot down Providence Road or Rea Road from our base. The yards there tend to be newer, HOA-managed, and often Bermuda or zoysia, which we mow shorter and more often than fescue.
Can you prune crape myrtles without butchering them?
Yes. Crape myrtles do not need to be topped every winter. We take out crossing branches, suckers, and old seed heads, and thin from the inside so the tree keeps its natural shape. Late winter is the time to do it.
